S.M.A.R.T. Laboratory
Room 001A (Bunker) Ward - Low Pressure Condensation Deposition Room

The unique perforated semiconductor neutron detectors pioneered by the SMART Laboratory are backfilled with neutron reactive materials. This is accomplished by chilling the substrate with LN2 and transporting the neutron reactive material to the substrate surface by a carrier gas.

The low pressure condensation deposition system is used to backfill microscopic perforations with LiF.
