Room 010 Ward - Crystal Growth Laboratory I (CdZnTe)

CdZnTe crystal growth is being pursued in Room 10 Ward Hall. Cd, Zn, and Te are reacted to produce stock CdZnTe material, which is then used to grow crystals. The low pressure vertical Bridgman furnace (LP-VB) is custom designed with mutiple thermal zones and separators. The crystal charge, freeze, and overpressure thermal zones, as well as the crystal freeze rate, are all computer controlled.
